PartTime Lecturer Pool
POSITION
The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its PartTime Lecturer Pool.
We are seeking experienced wellorganized and studentcentered individuals to teach
- Intro to Ethnic Studies
We are also interested in applicants who may be interested in these subject areas.
- Intro to Asian Pacific American Studies
- Asian American and Pacific Islander History
- Asian Pacific American cultural/media studies
- Asian Pacific American community studies
- Asian American Women
- APIDA Families
- Multiple Heritage Studies
- Vietnamese American Studies
This is a pool of parttime lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PARTTIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- ABD Doctoral Candidate or M.A. with substantial graduate course work in relevant field is required
- Evidence of prior teaching mentoring or tutoring experience
- Evidence of experience in relevant academic field or relevant professional/communitybased experience.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students including firstgeneration college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
The Department is open to candidates with nontraditional career paths and those candidates are encouraged to apply.

CSUFs Asian American Studies Department aims: 1 to inform students about the history challenges and triumphs of Asians and Pacific Islanders in America including their contributions to this country; 2 to build interracial and interethnic understanding and cooperation; 3 to promote study and research in the area; 4 to contribute to Asian American communities in southern California to develop critical thinking and communications skills; and 5 to prepare students in selected career paths where knowledge and understanding of the Asian American and Pacific Islander experience is important. APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for parttime faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions parttime faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
Classification Range: $5007 $6359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $5295 per month
The fulltime 15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a threeunit assignment typical starting compensation ranges from $6008.40 to $7110 per semester.

Regular performance evaluations of parttime lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances syllabi assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
