Job Description

  • Shape the FirstYear Experience at UWA Play a pivotal role in designing and coordinating universitywide initiatives that enhance student belonging retention and success.
  • Collaborate and Innovate Work closely with academic leaders student engagement teams and professional staff to develop and implement impactful programs that support student transition.
  • Fulltime 1.0 FTE) appointment on an ongoing basis.
  • Base salary range: $100524.00 $111534.00 p.a. plus 17 superannuation.

About the area

The Student Equity and Success teams focus on ensuring access support and enrichment for all students fostering an inclusive student experience through academic and cocurricular programs. They coordinate the First Year Experience and oversee the Student Access and Participation Framework which promotes local ownership and accountability in empowering students to aspire to achieve and thrive at university. Their initiatives help remove barriers and enhance student success particularly for equity cohorts and those entering via alternative pathways.

The Student Success team leads the Academic Skills Centre and delivers programs that build students study writing communication English STEM and research skills. Through workshops dropins online sessions and interactive resources they support students at key transition points such as firstyear students and those identified as at risk. Their work fosters learning communities and provides tailored support for diverse student backgrounds ensuring all students have the tools to succeed at UWA.

About the opportunity

  • You will coordinate the universitywide UWA First Year Experience (FYE) Program ensuring a cohesive and intentional approach to supporting new students.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including Student Engagement and academic leaders to foster belonging retention and success.
  • Your role involves aligning and coordinating FYE activities across Schools managing digital resources engaging stakeholders facilitating communication and continuously evaluating and improving the program.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level.
  • Proven ability to coordinate complex programs ensuring effective collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels including academic and professional staff.
  • Understanding of current trends challenges and best practices in higher education particularly relating to student engagement retention and transition.
