Job Description

Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $45.90/Hr. CAD $55.32/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Program Director Emergency and Access via the Manager Access Services and in collaboration with Patient Care Managers Medical Staff and nursing staff at the designated site the Clinical Site Coordinator

  • Oversee and coordinate patient care delivery including bed utilization patient transfers staffing and resource allocation.
  • Address staffing issues related to collective agreements and patient care policies.
  • Manage site operation issues including emergency plans.
  • Serve as a clinical resource supporting nursing staff in providing safe competent care to patients residents and families.
  • Act as the senior administrative leader on site during evenings nights and weekends in the absence of Managers and Program Leaders.
  • Provide leadership by making decisions and solving complex problems related to patient care safety and flow.
  • Assess critical situations make independent decisions and determine when to involve senior leaders.
  • Build effective working relationships with medical and clinical staff through collaboration and respectful communication.
  • Ensure operational needs are met by working closely with Clinical Nurse Leaders and Charge Nurses.
  • Engage with senior leaders such as Senior LeaderOnCall and Program Directors when necessary.

What You Bring

Education

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing plus five 5 years recent related experience in a complex health care environment including a minimum of two 2 years experience in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Completion of post basic specialty nursing certificate/program may be required.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to apply decisionmaking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to teach and coach.

Your Day to Day:

Leadership

  • Collaborates with staff management and physicians to resolve care and operational issues.
  • Acts as senior administrative leader during evenings nights and weekends.
  • Addresses performance issues workload pressures and conflicts among staff.

Bed Utilization and Access

  • Coordinates patient placement and bed utilization prioritizing critical issues.
  • Manages patient transfers and acuity liaising with Patient Transfer Network and acute sites.
  • Collaborates with managers to improve bed access and patient flow.

Clinical Resource Nurse

  • Monitors nursing quality and patient safety through observations and assessments.
  • Supports nursing staff with clinical practice issues and problemsolving.
  • Provides direct patient care and identifies staff performance issues.

Staffing and Supervision

  • Coordinates staffing needs and allocates staff based on workload demands.
  • Collaborates with the Staffing Office to optimize staffing levels.
  • Addresses disciplinary issues and consults leadership for action plans.

Emergency Mgmt/Operations

  • Responds to urgent safety issues and ensures staff and patient safety.
  • Coordinates emergency protocols and acts as Incident Commander.
  • Advocates for safe and efficient operations during emergency events.
