Job Description

Position Summary

The Ford Asset Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering College and automotive manufacturer approved curriculum in a student classroom/lab environment. The instructor must maintain appropriate training and credential requirements and assist in student recruitment and placement of students in appropriate workbased learning experiences.


Salary Schedule Placement:Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule D1 IBIV $42108 $94363 based on education and experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment Salary Schedule D1 $13001 $29184 based on education and experience. Annual Potential Salary including Summer Appointment $55109 $123547

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teach 3035 contact hours or 1516 credit hours per semester and/or the equivalent in noncredit hours or a combination of the credit and noncredit course offerings.
  2. Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  1. Available to teach offcampus classes in day night weekend classes and training opportunities as a regular teaching load should the needs of the College dictate such assignment.
  2. Prepare and maintain current course syllabus according to the Colleges guidelines.
  3. Develop and implement a program of instruction that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of students and is consistent with local and state plan of study established curriculum.
  4. Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities which are compatible with the physical facility but serve the needs and capabilities of the students.
  5. Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
  6. Develop and evaluate Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for instructional specialty.
  7. Knowledge of content curriculum methods materials and equipment of instructional specialty.
  8. Prepare program course offerings for schedule for each semester and term.
  9. Recruit students into program and advise through completion.
  10. Coordinate workbased learning opportunities for students.
  11. Establish and utilize Advisory Committee according to approved guidelines.
  12. Prepare and maintain program budget.
  13. Maintain lab equipment and supplies.
  14. Collaborate with other unit programs to develop and implement divisional goals.
  15. Knowledge of institutions program of studies related to mission goals and organization.
  16. Update and revise courses in collaboration with the faculty department chair and dean of career technical education and when appropriate the advisory committee.
  17. Participate in student orientation sessions.
  18. Serve on divisional institutional and statewide committees as appointed.
  19. Work with college ADA coordinator to provide appropriate accommodation for identified students
  20. Maintain and conduct schedule office hours for student conferences
  21. Mastery knowledge in teaching field.
  22. Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned by the Department Chair Assistant Dean Dean VicePresident or President.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION STANDARDS AND TRAINING:

  1. Associates Degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution
  2. 3 years of experience as an automotive technician
  3. Proficient with computers

REQUIRED LICENSE CERTIFICATION OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:

  1. ASE Master and L1 Certification
  2. Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS STRENGTH RATING:

  1. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a shop environment with some travel; exposure to noise dust grease smoke fumes noxious odors gases and all types of weather and temperature conditions; working and/or walking on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surface and rough terrain extended hours including evenings and weekends.
  2. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in a mechanic shop environment; walk stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop bend kneel crouch crawl climb reach and twist; push pull lift and/or carry moderate to heavy amounts of weight; operate assigned equipment and vehicles; verbally communicate to exchange information.
  3. Vision: See in normal visual range with or without correction.
  4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
