The ideal candidate will have a history of teaching excellence in medical education and the leadership skills to serve as core faculty in integrated courses in our medical school curriculum. The selected candidate will provide instruction in basic science/foundational courses across multiple disciplines including Pathology Histology Pathophysiology Physiology and Cell Biology and serve as facilitator for small group discussion in casebased learning problembased learning and other small group sessions.The incoming faculty member will also collaborate with other basic science faculty to assist in developing clinical cases to accompany foundational learning. About Your Work: 100 academic no clinical duties Develop the goals learning objectives prework assignments pre and posttest assessment questions and any supplemental materials Assist in developing cases for the casebased curriculum. Run large group interactive sessions and facilitate casebased learning sessions 3 mornings per week (M/ W/ F) during year 1 and 3 halfdays per week during year 2 2 afternoons 1 morning) as assigned. Participate in the clinical correlations and illustrate where there is horizontal and vertical integration of the basic science materials. Provide support guidance and mentoring to each student during their clerkship year as needed. Mentor students Review and edit students personal statements as requested; write letter of support for residency application as requested. Prepare for attend and participate in monthly faculty meetings. Work on projects within at least one working group such as OSCE case development; casebased learning; communication skills; writeup oral case presentation and clinical reasoning; professionalism and ethics; mentoring; feedback and evaluation. Participate in and facilitate faculty development sessions and retreats (which occur periodically throughout the year) as needed.Minimum Requirements A terminal doctoral degree (MD/DO or PhD) in basic science disciplines such as Biomedical Sciences Physiology Pathology Molecular and Cellular Biology or related field is required as is the flexibility to teach across multiple disciplines and expertise in the use of technology and active learning instruction.
