Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated self starter Senior Network Engineer to develop and maintain client network environments.Network Security experience will be beneficial.This role will perform Technical duties with a focus on reliability and world class service delivery of our client networking DC/Cloud infrastructures. As a key technical advisor and mentor you will guide the network team indesigning analyzing evaluating configuring troubleshooting and implementing network solutions to support our business and client needs . Must have extensive knowledge of coding languages protocols hardware components and IPbased networking technologies.
We need candidates located in the Chicago area that can travel to customer sites throughout the greater Chicago area several times per month. This will include far western suburbs including Aurora and Bolingbrook.
What youll do as a Senior Network Engineer:
- Troubleshoot escalated issues related to LAN WAN and wireless networks
- Design deploy and configure functional networks (LAN WAN SDWAN WiFi) for new implementations
- Design deploy and configuresecurity devices (Firewalls/IPS/VPN)
- Manage NAC/ISE/ACS services policies
- Configure and install switches servers routers and other network devices perform upgrades when needed
- Maintain patch configuration information for the devices. The timelines for the applicable patch roll out would be dependent on the severity levels defined by the OEM or product vendor.
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Respond to incidents to diagnose and resolve connectivity and performance issues
- Write RCA and participate in customers meetings to explain root cause and solution.
- Analyze recurrent tickets and find solutions to reduce the occurrence of the same issues
- View and analyze all the system and application logs
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor more junior team members on technical issues
- Communicate with stakeholders and end users when needed
- Maintain complete technical documentation to include network drawings technical processes and instruction
- Help analyze the Network reporting and suggest improvements to network performance capacity and scalability
What you will bring to the team:
- Industryrelated experience 8 years as a Senior Network Engineer including L3 escalation for problem tickets
- Experience/skills in the following areas: Cisco Switching Cisco ISE Meraki HP Aruba Cato Networks Fortinet SDWAN F5 Palo Alto and ExtraHop
- Experience working with these tools/systems: Solar Winds OpenGear GigaMon Packet Capture Big Panda Rubrik Cherwell ITSM
- Strong knowledge and experience in routing and switching technologies
- Experience in supporting Active Directory DNS environments
- Professional certification (e.g. CCNP CCDP CCNA)
- Strong working knowledge of Network Management Systems and Platforms (Manage Engine Site24x7
- Experience with network diagnostic monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
- Solid background in network administration and architecture
- Indepth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP OSPF)
- Familiarity with access control models and network security
- Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python Perl)
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS Cisco IOS)
- Sharp troubleshooting skills
- Prior experience supporting new installations and network troubleshooting in a nationwide retail store environment
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills ability to clearly explain procedures to all levels
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems within the defined SLAs
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- BS/BA in Computer Science Engineering or a related field
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms and technologies such as Google Cloud AWS Microsoft Azure and Hybrid cloud are essential
Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $130000 $150000.
