Position Summary:

This Bioprocess Engineer will help our team drive process and product innovation through adaptation of both existing and novel singleuse technologies. This role will support our new product development pipeline through conceptualization research design and evaluation. The team member will work diligently in collaboration with other R&D teams by generating applicationspecific biotechnology data and verifying all new products meet all functional requirements for the intended use. Daytoday work will cover a broad range of both upstream and downstream bioprocessing unit operations involving our singleuse offerings as well as their associated controllers and peripheral equipment.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate and drive experiment plans perform studies and analyze and report study results and recommendations both verbally and in written formats.

Perform engineering analysis and modeling (i.e. heat and mass transfer CFD surface chemistry biological systems etc. of components and systems using sound established engineering and root cause analysis principles.

Goto subject matter expert in R&D to help research conceptualize explore and develop bioprocessing solutions and technologies for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Engage in rapid design test and build cycles for rapid bioprocess technology development.

Coordinate assist and/or execute process characterization and process validation studies as needed (inhouse or externally).

Support problem solving and continuous process/product improvements.

Document experimental results/concepts to support patent and intellectual property portfolio.

Contribute towards several projects simultaneously and deliver high quality work.

Work with customer base and field representatives on new product and process concepts including alpha and beta testing.

Travel as required to perform job functions up to 10

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical Biological or Biochemical Engineering; or Molecular Cell or Protein Biology; or a similarly appropriate field of study) with 4 8 years handson experience in bioprocess engineering in process development MSAT process engineering or similar position OR Masters Degree with 2 4 years

Knowledge of and experience with general bioprocess unit operations (cell culture microbial fermentation harvest & recovery) and cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) type environments; understanding of associated industrial standards.

Experienced with design of experiments and postexperimental analysis and decision making.

Ability to handle ambiguity in tasks and project definition.

Strong written and oral communication skills applied to both internal and external communications.

Software proficiency: MS office programs SAS/JMP DoE Matlab/Simulink CAD (SolidWorks AutoCAD).

Ability to work across teams and support multiple organizations effectively.

Ability to be a team leader and mentor on projects.

Problem solving skills including data interpretation root cause analysis and project prioritization. Ability to use standard troubleshooting concepts and develop new as needed.

Ability to learn quickly and work independently and proactively with minimal guidance.

Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS or PhD in Biological or Biochemical Engineering; or Molecular Cell or Protein Biology; or a similarly appropriate field of study.

Automation and instrumentation proficiency: knowledge of DeltaV PLC PAC based bioreactor control systems and supporting unit operations.

Direct experience and familiarity with suspension and/or adherent mammalian cell culture processes in bioreactor systems.

Basic project management skills (time management interpret Gantt charts).
