Job Description

Job Title: Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer

Location: Cape Town


Job Description:

The Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing transportation projects transport planning and infrastructure design. This role will involve overseeing the entire project lifecycle from conceptualization to completion ensuring that all transportation systems are safe efficient and sustainable.The perfect candidate should possess a robust expertise in traffic analysis modeling and simulation coupled with a demonstrated history of executing projects effectively meeting deadlines and staying within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee transportation projects from inception to fruition encompassing tasks such as traffic impact evaluations optimization of traffic signals and conducting audits for road safety.
  • Perform comprehensive traffic engineering studies and analyses including assessments of traffic volume capacity and the modeling of traffic flow.
  • Innovate and execute strategies to ameliorate traffic flow diminish congestion and bolster safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with crossdisciplinary teams including urban planners architects and environmental engineers to seamlessly integrate transportation solutions within broader development initiatives.
  • Generate technical reports presentations and proposals tailored for clients and stakeholders effectively communicating intricate technical concepts in a lucid and succinct manner.
  • Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues nurturing their professional advancement and skill development.
  • Remain abreast of industry trends emerging technologies and optimal methodologies within the realms of traffic engineering and transport planning.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering transportation engineering or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Professional engineering license required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in traffic and transport engineering with a focus on transportation projects transport planning and infrastructure design.
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to lead a team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to nontechnical audiences.
  • Knowledge of industry software and tools such as AutoCAD VISSIM and Synchro.
