Nurse Unit Manager Fulltime

The Geelong Clinic is seekingan experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join our team with excellent leadership skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient care to both general psychiatry and eating disorders.

AsNurse Unit Manager (NUM) you willbe a role model of The Geelong Clinics values andresponsible for providingleadership direction to Sunnymeade wardto support the strategic direction operational processes budget and business direction of the hospital.

The position also offers supportive management supervision professional development and parking. The Geelong Clinic is a 73 bed Psychiatric Hospital offering a range of inpatient day programs and outreach services for individuals experiencing mental health problems. Located on the outskirts of Geelong within close proximity to spectacular coastal attractions the clinic has a number of accredited Psychiatrists supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team of nursing allied health administration and domestic services staff.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide an excellent standard of evidence based and personcentred care to lead and provide safe quality nursing care through comprehensive assessment development of a plan implementation and evaluation of outcomes in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Lead the multidisciplinary team to provide this quality care for our patients.
  • Advocates for and involves patients their families and significant others to participate in care goal setting and discharge planning.
  • Provide professional nursing leadership by ensuring all staff practice according to AHPRA professional standards code of ethics and conduct legislative requirements Healthscopes polices and processes required registration scope of practice and patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Lead a learning environment within the Unit by maintaining own professional learning and continuous professional development and by providing coaching and guidance to ENs RNs graduates students and other staff.
  • Implement Healthscopes patient safety and quality frameworks within the Unit by identifying areas of improvement leading and conducting clinical audits leading quality improvement projects and the plan for the Unit
  • Create and maintain a safe highperforming and sustainable Unit by visibly leading a values and safetyled workplace culture.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners to ensure patients receive a high quality of care

Essential:

  • Registered and current practicing certificate with AHPRA
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Police Check

Desirable:

  • Leadership and management qualification
  • Post graduate qualification in Mental Health
