The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Division of Alaska Military Youth Academy is recruiting for an AMYA Coordinator in our Recruiting Placement and Mentoring Section!
This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 16.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing:
As the new AMYA Coordinator you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Alaskas youth by recruiting candidates and forging vital partnerships within the community. Your role encompasses not only advocating for the program through public awareness initiatives but also delivering job skills training and providing handson case management for the candidates/cadets. By collaborating with community partners you will create sustainable opportunities that empower graduates to thrive beyond their time at AMYA ultimately fulfilling the academys mission of fostering leadership and personal growth among young Alaskans.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
AMYA is located at Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson (JBER) and is a residential staterun secondary training and educational institution within the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs accredited by Cognia and is one of 41 evidencebased nationally recognized National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Programs for atrisk youth located throughout the United States. The work environment is generally indoors in an office setting; however community outreach events and occasional activities with the youth may include outdoor settings. You will be working a nontraditional 37.5 hour work week MondayFriday with occasional prescheduled weekend events.

*NOTE * SPECIAL NOTICE JBER (BASE) ACCESS * NOTE*

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access is not within the States control.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited college;
AND
Possession of a valid Alaska drivers license.

Substitution:
Experience in counseling interviewing case management or work specifically in the behavioral or social services fields may substitute for the required education 3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience). This experience includes work such as AMYA Team Leader Senior Team Leader or Youth Counselor with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
