CMHA is looking to hire a parttime 20 hours per week masters level clinical intern for May 2025. This position will be in Waterbury CT(Flexible day & Hours).
Position Summary:Under the supervision of the appropriately credentialed individual the student intern/practicum student will serve as case manager to support teach advocate and empower clients with mental health medical and Substance Use needs. This includes developing personcentered recovery goals to live learn socialize work and maintain health and wellness in the community.
Responsibilities: - Performs comprehensive intake assessments that result in diagnosis and recommendations for psychiatric and substance abuse treatment for children adolescents adults and/or families and assists with appropriate referrals and linkage to other services if appropriate.
- Develop treatment goals and objectives with client. Utilizes evidencebased treatments and appropriate treatment modalities (individual family group couples) that promote the amelioration of psychiatric symptoms and/or substance abuse and behaviors exhibited by clients.
- Evaluate client risk on an ongoing basis and formulate and implement appropriate safety plans.
- Collaborates and coordinates with external agencies such as schools PCPs DCF probation court and other social service agencies.
- Maintains accurate documentation that is submitted within program and funder timeframes.
- Works with a multidisciplinary team in consultation with supervising clinician attending and presenting in clinical team meetings
Requirements: - In pursuit of a Bachelors Masters or Doctoral degree in a clinical discipline such as psychology; social work; counseling; marriage and family therapy
- Valid DMV License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience inan Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
