Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics and the Mens and Womens Golf Head Coach the Graduate Assistant for Mens and Womens Golf will assist the head coach in recruiting studentathletes to the program instruct and develop the studentathlete in the sport of golf. Other duties will include assignments in one or more areas in athletics: fundraising game management alumni relations fitness center supervision intramurals event planning sports information and social media. Instruction should include but not limited to the rules strategies and techniques relating to practice and competition in this sport. The Graduate Assistant will also support the mission and goals of the Athletic Department.
This position is scheduled to begin August 2025. Typically a fulltime GA is required to work 20 hours per week from midAugust to midMay. Accepted into a Masters Degree Program at Hood College is required.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Full acceptance into one of the Hood Colleges graduate programs required. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations preferred.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Technology Skills
Proficient in MS Office tools (Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint) email and Internet. Ability to learn new applications quickly including organizationwide information systems and departmentspecific software applications.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers both in person and by phone. Ability to develop marketing or promotional materials. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students parents or others.
Mathematical Skills
Proficient with statistical and financial concepts. Must have the ability to apply those concepts to tracking projections goal setting and interpreting reports. Must be able to draw conclusions from reports and make cost effective decisions regarding programs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form. Ability to work independently and as a member of a group in developing and executing project plans. Ability to work in theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.
Compensation
The compensation for Athletic Graduate Assistants consists of a $3000 annual stipend a tuition waiver for up to 18 credits per year campus housing and a meal plan. This temporary position is not benefitseligible except for paid Maryland sick leave. Learn more about Hood College.
