Quality Control Specialist Residential LifeJob Description
The Quality Control Specialist for Residential Life is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness safety and overall quality of the Residential Life buildings at Fort Hays State University. This position performs routine visual inspections of all community spaces and individual rooms within the residence halls initiates necessary work orders and performs cleaning tasks when required. The role also includes managing and reporting on maintenance and cleanliness issues to ensure a safe and welcoming living environment for all residents. The Quality Control Specialist will be required to complete mold certification within one year of hire and will report directly to the Director of Residential Life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly visual inspections of community spaces (lounges kitchens hallways etc..
- Conduct regular inspections of individual student rooms including cleaning visible pipes to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Identify issues related to cleanliness maintenance and safety and take corrective actions including performing cleaning tasks or submitting work orders for necessary repairs.
- Monitor and assess building conditions ensuring compliance with health and safety standards including identifying potential mold risks.
- Submit detailed reports on the status of the facilities noting any recurring issues or concerns.
- Coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure timely resolution of submitted work orders.
- Maintain clear communication with the Director of Residential Life regarding building quality and resident satisfaction.
- Complete mold certification training within one year of employment to handle moldrelated inspections and issues.
- Provide support during peak periods including movein and moveout to ensure smooth transitions for residents.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment ensuring availability for necessary tasks.
- Must be able to lift 50 lb
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to assess cleanliness and maintenance standards.
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and cleaning procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to completing mold certification within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in facility maintenance or quality control.
- Knowledge of work order systems or facility management software.
- Previous experience in residential life or a housingrelated environment.
Wage: $20.00/ hour
