Job Description
GDBIWs Life Cycle Engineering Department supports the design integration and installation of modernized systems and equipment on inservice Navy surface combatants.
This position is part of the DDG 1000 Planning Yard Engineering team and provides functional Mechanical Engineering analysis and Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) support for DDG 1000 Class Destroyers.
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Performing functional mechanical engineering analysis for installation of shipalts onto DDG 1000 class ships.
- Supporting update of associated databases and calculations and configuration management of changes to piping and HVAC systems since new construction for DDG 1000 distributive systems.
- Specifying new functional designs and design changes in support of Navy contracts Ship Upgrades (SCDs) and special studies for DDG 1000 class ships.
- Working with customers (Navy Installing Activities Procurement Contracts Detail Design and OnSite Design Representatives) to resolve technical issues recommend changes and maintain appropriate communications.
- Some travel to ships Home Ports may be required.

- Providing technical leadership for development of detail design products.
Required/Preferred Education/Training
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required.
- Sr. Engineer: 5 years experience required
- Principle Engineer: 12 years experience required

Familiarity with shipboard or commercial pipe and vent systems desired.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to organize plan and execute projects.
Highly motivated strong attention to detail with proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
WINDOWS and WINDOWS software operating skills required.
Microsoft Excel and Word skills required proficiency in Access desirable.
CAD (AutoCAD Catia) skills desirable.
