High Point Universitys Associate Director of Student Financial Planning under the guidance of the Director of Student Financial Planning provides leadership and supervision to the office staff in the day to day operational functions. The Assistant Director insures our office maintains compliance under federal regulations and assists the Director and Associate Director in developing interpreting and implementing policies and procedures to provide efficient and effective delivery of financial aid. Provides supervision for Support Staff and Frontline operations. The position assumes full responsibility for the Office of Student Financial Planning in the absence of the Director and Associate Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Experience and Training:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
- 5 years of experience in financial aid counseling at a postsecondary institution
- Prior management or leadership experience preferred
Knowledge Skills Ability:
- Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations governing financial aid programs.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies procedures and regulations
- Demonstrates strong collaboration and interteam skills to foster a cohesive effective internal team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills that includes the ability to multitask prioritize work responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism in all relationships with other staff members campus departments outside agencies and students/parents.
- Attention to detail strong analytical skills excellent organization and communication skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises the work of the undergraduate student financial planning team and assists in their training and professional development.
- Assist the Director in ensuring the Offices compliance with federal and state regulations and university policies with the awarding of financial assistance.
- Maintains knowledge of federal state and institutional regulations and policies in connection with our offices function.
- Counsels and advises current and prospective students and their families on federal state and university financial assistance programs as well as information on alternative sources and methods of financing educational costs.
- Assists in maintaining and updating the SFP Offices publications
- Shares in providing leadership to maintain good working relationships with all departments throughout the University.
- Represents the University at state regional and national financial aid training workshops and conferences when appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director and/or Assistant Vice President.
