JOB TITLE: TRIO Tutor
DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB: TRIO Student Support Center Learning Resource Center 129 FVCC Kalispell Campus ELIGIBILITY: Open to all current FVCC Students Must have Instructor recommendation START DATE: This position will start Fall Semester 2024.
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Academic Calendar Year 2024/2025 PAY RANGE: $13.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on experience WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule between Monday and Saturday. This position may work up to 19 hours per week.
DRESS CODE: Business casual wear with appropriate coverage POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE: Under minimum supervision provides academic tutoring to support student success POSITION DUTIES: - Provides individual and group academic tutoring to students;
- Assists students with study skill;
- Responsible for completing and maintaining accurate documentation relating to tutoring; documentation must be completed within required time period; and
- May perform other like duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester;
- Must have a B grade or higher in the course offering tutor support;
- Must have content competency (as determined by instructor);
- Must possess academic integrity; and
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Previous tutoring experience
- Availability to tutor for the academic year
- TRIO participant
- Group leadership experience
STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT: Communication skills critical thinking effective reasoning leadership organization group facilitation professionalism customer service skills PREDICTED OUTCOME: Practical competence critical thinking collaboration communicating effectively increased confidence increased subject mastery professionalism
STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES: - Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six 6 credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
- Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
- Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
- Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
