  • 31.75 per week 39 weeks per year Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.15pm hour unpaid lunch) plus 30 minutes per week paid CPD time

The Specialist Unit forms part of a countywide programme of special provision as part of Suffolks Local Offer to children and young people with special educational needs and their families. It is expected to be a centre of excellence in inclusive education underpinned by our childcentred approach and informed by evidencebased practice. The Specialist Unit is an additionally resourced provision which provides adaptive learning opportunities reduced class sizes and additional resources to support learners effectively. It will cater for students with an EHCP with a primary need of cognition and learning. The support offered by the unit allows for the students on roll to access mainstream classes and integrate as much as possible into school life. This post may have some one to one responsibility each week and may involve time across the school in other classrooms outside of the unit.

Requirements:

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • can support a range of abilities including pupils with SEND
  • can follow plans and work on own initiative
  • can take responsibility for small groups or short term for whole class
  • can communicate clearly with children and adults both verbally and in writing
  • can work both with a small group and on a one to one basis with pupils
  • can contribute to assessments
  • has a willingness to make contribution to the general smooth running of our school
  • can adhere to policies and procedures and follow GDPR guidelines
  • can maintain confidentiality
  • is confident in supporting good behaviour management skills
  • has a desire to participate in school and trust CPD opportunities
  • has an awareness of safeguarding
  • is willing to travel to other school sites as required.

Qualifications: SEND Experience (preferable) Grade C /4 mathematics and English; Good level of computer literacy
