Founded in 1905 and serving nearly 1000 day and boarding students from 28 states and 19 countries McCallie is one of the countrys premier independent schools and a national leader in educating boys in grades 612. McCallie takes an expansive view of education seeking to form the whole boy. In his journey to manhood McCallie comes alongside the student and supports his mental spiritual physical and emotional development.


During a time of strength momentum and growth McCallie seeks an Assistant Director of Admission to focus on 9th12th grade boarding admission. This individual will work with members of the enrollment management team in the schools recruitment and retention efforts. The Assistant Director will represent the school both on and off campus to prospective students their families and various constituencies. This position will research plan and execute recruitment strategies for specific areas and student populations.


Responsibilities will include significant seasonal travel and weekend and evening work to visit schools organizations consultants families and alumni and host events. The Assistant Director will create and maintain close relationships with prospective students and their families guiding them through the admission process and helping them transition into the school. She or he will coordinate with members of the team and the McCallie School Community in the creation and of school visits and special events. This selfstarter must be passionate about working with students being an enthusiastic member of our diverse school community and having fun as a member of an energetic team.


The Assistant Director of Admission will be responsible for supporting the overall enrollment and marketing objectives of McCallies residential program and for contributing to the effective implementation of enrollment management initiatives. The Assistant Director of Admission reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management.


This position is full time exempt and eligible for benefits.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support new boarding student recruitment within an assigned geographic region with an emphasis on increasing the number of inquiries applications and enrollments through travel and relationship building. Develop and maintain relationships with middle school counselors educational consultants and other key contacts within the region.
  2. Cultivate relationships with parent and alumni volunteers to promote student recruitment. Activities may include coordination of offcampus outreach events and arranging telephone and email followup with prospects. Recruit parent and alumni volunteers to host events and to help with local outreach.
  3. Interview and host applicants during campus visits. Coordinate communication with student and faculty volunteers in support of visits. Help plan and manage oncampus recruiting events throughout the year.
  4. Improve the enrollment yield of McCallies overnight summer programs by helping market camps to key constituencies throughout the year and cultivating relationships with the families of current campers. Spend time in the summer working in residential camps to build relationships with campers and staff.
  5. Read and evaluate admission files as a member of the Admission Committee.
  6. Maintain an accurate understanding of McCallies programs and culture by being an active participant in the school community. This responsibility requires activity beyond normal work hours such as attending events on campus eating in the dining hall and visiting students in the dorms.
