Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor on a 3month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 26.50 35.17 per Hour

Summary:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will support the delivery of largescale refurbishment and retrofit projects including the Harvist Estate Retrofit Programme and boroughwide cyclical improvement works. The role involves financial management contract administration and strategic oversight to ensure best value in housing capital projects across Islington. This includes managing budgets up to 30 million advising on cost control and leading on complex projects involving mechanical and electrical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Quantity Surveying input for largescale refurbishment retrofit and cyclical improvement projects.
  • Oversee contract and financial management ensuring compliance and best value from contractors.
  • Lead on commercial negotiation contract dispute resolution and cost planning.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and mentor junior staff.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with council goals including sustainability and Net Zero Carbon initiatives.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders to meet project targets.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (preferably RICS accredited) or equivalent experience.
  • Professional membership with RICS or CIOB.

Experience:

  • Extensive QS experience in largescale and complex housing projects particularly within local authorities.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical services within refurbishment projects.
  • Proven ability to lead on cost control financial procedures and multiproject environments.
  • Strong negotiation and contractor management skills.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic solutions to improve service delivery.

Essentials:

  • Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of procurement strategies.
  • Ability to handle cost estimating tender evaluation and budget management.
  • Skilled in dispute resolution and cost claim settlements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS
