About the Company
Were looking for an experienced and passionate Cloud Operations Engineer to join their newly fast growing team in Cape Town.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Cloud Operations Engineer you will design build and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure for communication services using Kubernetes (AKS) Docker ACR and Azure Resource Patching.
You will develop and manage containerized applications ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization within Kubernetes environments. Collaborating with cloud and development teams you will optimize network performance and security for voice video and messaging services. Your role will also involve implementing and managing monitoring and alerting systems with tools such as Prometheus Grafana and the ELK stack.
You will continuously analyze system performance identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations to enhance call quality reduce latency and improve user experience. This includes regular VM rightsizing and costsaving measures such as Reserved Instances (RIs) and Azure Cost Management tools.
Additionally you will automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Terraform and Azure DevOps while ensuring timely security updates and configurations through Azure Resource Patching. Participation in oncall rotations and providing effective support for production incidents related to communication services is also a key aspect of this role.

You should also have:
- 5 years as a Cloud Operations Engineer Systems Engineer or a similar role focusing on communications technologies
- Expertise in Azure including Azure Resource Patching for Kubernetes (AKS) and VMs (Windows/Linux)
- Experience with Microsoft Teams Skype for Business and Azure Communication Services
- Strong understanding of SIP VoIP and networking concepts including Cisco networking technologies
- Proficiency in scripting (Python PowerShell Bash) and automation tools
- Experience with Docker ACR or other container registries
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio Linkerd) and network performance monitoring tools (Wireshark tcpdump) is a plus
