JOB TITLE: Interventional Radiology (IR) Medical Scheduler
LOCATION OR DEPARTMENT: Clinic
EXEMPT STATUS/GRADE: Nonexempt/14
REPORTS TO:NIR/IR Scheduling Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Assist nurses advanced practice providers and radiologists with scheduling and educating patients processing paperwork and procedure preparation for the NIR/IR program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answer phones and schedule/confirm NIR/IR exams and procedures with patients referring clinics nurses and radiologists.
- Process and file incoming orders.
- Track incoming and outgoing imaging and reports.
- Register patients in radiology information system.
- Type patient correspondence follow up letters etc.
- Educate patients and referring clinics on exam procedures and instructions.
- Ensure patients rooms prior authorizations medical records and images are prepared for the procedure/exam.
- Provide clerical/administrative support for the NIR/IR nurses advanced practice providers and radiologists.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with minimum instructions adhere to prescribed routines and practices maintain records and to create reports requiring accuracy.
- Dependable consistently at work and on time.

- Incorporate company values into daily interactions with internal and external customers.
- Other duties may include but are not limited to training new employees and stocking and/or ordering department supplies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
HUC or Medical Assistant or related degree/certification preferred.
Six months of HUC scheduling or related medical setting experience required.
HUC or related certification preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Excellent customer service/patient care and decisionmaking skills required.
Ability to prioritize tasks work well independently and in a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective communication with patients referring clinics employees supervisors and the radiologists required.
Must be detail oriented.
Demonstrate knowledge of safetyrelated work behaviors to ensure a safe work environment
DAILY PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
OF THE JOB:
Requires sitting for long periods of time. Some bending and stretching required. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. Repetitive motions keyboarding twisting turning gripping and grasping.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
LowPotential exposure to communicable diseases blood products bodily fluids and/or hazardous materials common to a radiology setting.
LowPotential exposure to ionizing radiation exams rooms and/or involved in the use of ionizing radiation common to a radiology setting.
