POSITION SUMMARY

Support Sales and manufacturing through production planning order scheduling and inventory program management in specific regards to the rewinding department and paper machine. Performs and manages inventory cycle counts for raw materials and semifinished goods at both sites (Butler St. and Yates St.. Also functions as strategic backup for the paper machine planner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ORDER SCHEDULING

  • Schedule orders using Orderplan. This will entail determining whether order should be manufactured taken from finished goods or converted from roll stock inventory.
  • Position will focus directly on scheduling the rewinding 3 machines with backup support to paper machine planner.
  • Coordinate converting operations among appropriate departments on an order specific basis.
  • Expedite orders acting as liaison between customer service and manufacturing.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  • Establish and monitor appropriate stock levels reorder points and safety stocks for inhouse inventory of certain raw materials and products by using the computerized inventory control system cycle counts as needed etc. Focus on reducing inventories when possible.
  • Distribute inventory level reports monthly to appropriate staff.

MANUFACTURING SCHEDULING

  • Prepare production cycles and queues for rewinding machines.
  • Monitor adherence to and adjust as necessary the paper machine production plan with manufacturing.
  • Monitor and order assigned raw materials and resale paper grades.
  • Coordinate scheduling of experimental runs with Sales and Technology as required.
  • Update and distribute production reports as necessary.
  • Monitor lead times on assigned machines and orders.

OTHER

  • Follow support develop and implement site safety practices as appropriate.
  • With sales and manufacturing develop and implement systems to improve productivity and customer service levels.
  • Learn and follow all I.S.O. procedures pertaining to job.
  • Function as Rewinder Scheduling backup.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Associates Degree in Business Manufacturing or related field or combined equivalency in education experience and aptitude.
  • Two years experience in a business or industrial organization.
  • Strong written verbal analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic Math skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines.
  • Capable of initiating work with little direct supervision.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Computer literacy of all required programs.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Ahlstroms order entry purchasing and inventory systems.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee possesses the ability to sit stand walk use hands and fingers handle controls and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to bend stoop and lift items weighing ten to twenty pounds. For any items weighing more than twenty pounds the employee is required to ask for assistance.
  • The employee must have the ability to work in a manufacturing production setting with occasional exposure to working near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee must have the ability to travel overnight as required by the position.
