Hourly Pay: $21

Start date: 12 August 2024


Colorado International Language Academy (CILA) is an international charter school with language immersion 50 in 1st 5th grades) in three world languages. Our students learn math language literacy and cultural aspects in their chosen target language. Children can study Mandarin Chinese German or Spanish.

Our students develop a global perspective by learning a second language; by exploring diverse cultures to cultivate understanding and respect; and by developing the skills to live and work with others internationally all essential elements for navigating life in the 21st century.

Colorado International Language Academy provides the support and the challenge to motivate students to excel. Their success depends upon their own initiative and the support of peers teachers parents and the wider community.


Summary:

The job of the Bus Driver was established to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions in a school vehicle ensure vehicle operation in a safe operating condition and ensure the safety of students during transport.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists students and other passengers (e.g. seating restraints special equipment etc. for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading from vehicles including both emergency situations and normal transport.
  • Drives school bus to transport students over scheduled routes and to/from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner.
  • Informs Principal of incidents (e.g. rules regulations laws procedures suspicious situations etc. for the purpose of providing information for followup action and/or proper procedures.
  • Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil water fuel etc. to maintain the vehicle in a safe operating condition.
  • Maintains assigned vehicle both interior and exterior (e.g. cleaning floors/windows/seats etc. for the purpose of ensuring safety appearance and sanitation of vehicle.
  • Performs pretrip and posttrip inspections (e.g. fluid levels tire pressure exterior condition etc. to ensure the vehicles safe operating condition and meets state requirements.
  • Meets requirements for driving a school bus as required by CDE (e.g. yearly MVR check minimum of biannual physical maintain familiarity with CDE requirements testing etc.
  • Monitors passengers during transit to maintain order and ensure their safety.
  • Performs first aid as necessary for the purpose of meeting the immediate health care needs of passengers.
  • Prepares documentation (e.g. daily mileage and condition reports incident/accident reports inspections disciplinary and positive behavior reports mileage etc. for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have a valid CDL with a P and S endorsement and a current MVR at the time of interview along with current First Aid card and Medical Examiners Card.
  • Experience in transporting Kindergarten through 5th grade is a plus.
  • Position requires a driver to be knowledgeable in performing all state and Federal inspections and to abide by all transportation laws.
  • The hours are approximately 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Additional hours are available for contracted services).
