HAICU (HydrogenAntihydrogen Infrastructure at Canadian Universities) is a TRIUMFbased project funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation. It focuses on developing quantum sensing technologies for antimatter atoms like antiatomic fountains and interferometers to test CPT invariance and the Weak Equivalence Principle. The current phase involves building atomic fountains and interferometers with lasercooled hydrogen atoms preparing for future use with antihydrogen.
BASIC FUNCTION: The primary responsibility of this position is to make leading contributions to the development construction and operation of the microwave system and other experimental systems for the HAICU project. Specific tasks include designing developing testing and prototyping various components integrating them into the HAICU system and supporting the operation and data analysis as required by the project.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Play a key role in the design development and operation of the microwave and magnetometry systems for the HAICU project.
- Contribute to the development testing and operation of the HAICU trap system.
- Make leading contributions on other areas for the overall success of HAICU as a core member of the team.
- Produce and maintain necessary software tools.
- Provide the necessary documentation describing the performance and the operation of the system.
- Manage the various phases of the projects including project reviews and the safety reports.
- Collect the data and analyze them.
- Report the status and the progress the HAICU team on a regular basis.
- Mentor and guide the technicians and the students.
- Maintain a close contact with the HAICU team members including the physicists engineers technicians and the students.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Good understanding of the physics of microwave systems.
- Familiar with standard physics related analysis tools.
- Experience with electronics instruments measurement techniques ultrahigh vacuum and physics experiment setup requirements.
- Understanding of project management processes
- Demonstrated sense of timeliness in completing tasks.
- Resourcefulness and initiative in his/her work.
- Eager to contribute to the project with a positive attitude good team player.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
PhD (received within 5 years) in Physics Engineering or related fields with relevant experience in experimental and instrumentation projects.
