Role Purpose :

Transportation Risk Management (TRM) is an integral part of the Chubb Marine Cargo proposition providing essential support to the underwriting process through the assessment of risks at both an individual client and portfolio level basis to Insureds Brokers Underwriters and Claims staff to reduce cargo and transportation related risks. TRM is a key component in the selection acquisition and retention of Marine Cargo customers.

Reporting to the marine risk management leader CEMENA this role is part of a cargo and transportation risk management but is also part of Chubbs wider global network of marine cargo and logistics loss control experts.

This role will assist the TRM function with the delivery of information to our internal and external customer base on cargo shipping and logistics related matters such as cargo packing stowage and securing warehousing and country security & political risks. TRM will research and deliver transportation related analysis on the risk characteristics of a multitude of differing products and commodities insured within Chubbs Marine Cargo businesses.

The role will have responsibility for undertaking on site surveys and consultations (according to the individuals skill sets) with customers and therefore requires excellent customer interaction skills.

Travel within the region is required.

The role will support the Senior Transportation Risk Manager with the long term strategic development and expansion of the TRM function.

Key responsibilities :

  • Provide support across Chubbs Marine Cargo client base which will include working with Chubbs large multinational customers but with particular focus on delivering effective and appropriate cargo risk management support to Chubbs MidMarket and SME sectors (which are key business development areas for Chubb).
  • General risk management support to be provided on areas such as cargo packing stowage and securing supply and logistics chain exposures country risk information warehousing and natural catastrophe risks (training will be provided on areas where the candidate is not currently proficient).
  • Manage global cargo survey programmes which will include the coordination of survey activity e.g. gathering risk information appointing surveyors clear communication with stakeholders dealing with technical queries and vetting reports payment of contractors and collection of appropriate fees all of which must be effectively organised and completed on time.
  • Manage the vendor (third party surveyor) engagement process ensuring compliance with Chubbs vendor protocols.
    Complete on site cargo related risk assessment surveys in line with technical skill sets (training to be provided where necessary).
    Assist with the in depth analysis of claims data commodity information and future risk developments to influence Chubbs Marine Cargo portfolio strategy.
    Assist in the development of the TRM marketing proposition and materials including the production of brochures risk management guides risk questionnaires press articles etc.
    Assist all marine risk mangers to shape and deliver the long term Chubb Transportation Risk Management Strategic Plan.
    Use Chubb IT structure to identify risk/ trends/ high claims and work proactive with all stakeholder within CEMENA
    Refresh and manage the onsite survey risk improvement recording system follow up and KPI reporting process for Chubb Marine.



Qualifications

Experience :

  • Experience within the logistics sector and/or shipping industry and/or marine consultancy/surveying preferred.
  • Proven record in managing successful business relationships through excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Involved in the successful delivery of projects and business propositions.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications :

  • Marine Engineering or Naval Architect qualification or
  • Qualification as either Deck or Engineer officer at sea or
  • Relevant professional qualification from Logistics Freight Forwarding or Road Haulage body or association or
  • Qualified Marine Surveyor or Loss Adjuster or
  • Degree in Shipping or Trade.
