Job Description

GAI Consultants is seeking a Field Engineer for an onsite position with a client in Indonesia. The Field Engineer would work an 8 week on 3 week off rotation at the client site working closely with the client and local utility to maintain and improve the electrical system in the area. The candidate will have to be comfortable with work in a remote area of the world with a multinational and multidisciplinary team designing and maintaining an electrical system with unique challenges. Duties will include transmission distribution and substation design client interaction proposal preparation design review QA/QC and finding solutions for issues in the field.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Up to approximately 85 of job duties are dedicated to technical work including but not limited to engineering design drawing creation development of bills of material permit development and QA/QC.
  • Implements effective engineering methods provides technical guidance and acts as a resource for engineers and designers.
  • Performs complex tasks and will have some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
  • Will work directly with client construction contractors and GAI construction manager to ensure that projects are constructed to specification.
  • Be able to make calculated engineering decisions in the field to resolve issues that might arise during construction.
  • Provide feedback to the rest of the design team in the United States on proposed and final designs.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Up to approximately 15 of job duties are dedicated to assisting with the management of client projects.
  • Works with the Project Manager to coordinate and develop proposed scope schedule and fee for client projects.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager on project progress. Be able to identify out of scope work and issues that could affect project schedule or budget.

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the onsite contact between the client and GAI. Manage the client relationship and develop new opportunities for GAI to secure work.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience or less experience and an advanced degree including at least 2 years of leading and managing design projects is required. Preferred 10 years of related experience.
  • Communicates effectively with clients management peers and subordinates. Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills are required.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert with an indepth understanding of electric transmission line design and engineering concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrates Project Management expertise in developing project schedules and cost budgets and understanding and analysis of financial data.
  • Demonstrates indepth understanding of software as needed to perform the duties described here such as PLSCADD PLSTower Microsoft Office Suite applications and software CAD programs document management systems database software HR Systems internet software and reporting tools related to databases and clientspecific software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of walking in steep varying terrain in all climate conditions.
  • Must be able to drive.
  • Must be capable of lifting 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a physical for work visa requirements.
  • Must have Covid19 vaccination and meet other vaccine requirements

  • Current valid stateissued drivers license
  • Passport

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to GAI office locations within the United States of America and to client office locations internationally. Travel requirement is estimated at up to 100 on rotation at project locations.
