About the role

Cloudflares business requires a world class legal team to help the company deal with complex matters by anticipating complications and distractions and guiding the company around those obstacles. Were looking for a new team member who can help foster our unique corporate philosophy and approach in which the security and privacy of our customers are paramount. This role is ideal for someone who is a proactive selfstarter and strategic thinker who has a thirst for knowledge and continued growth all while working as part of a great team.

We are looking for an exceptionally talented energetic and strategic compliance professional to join our legal team as anAssociate General Counsel Investigations & Compliance based either in Washington DC or Austin TX. You will play a key role in leading and managing our global legal compliance program including internal investigations conflicts of interest disclosures gifts and entertainment requests training and communications policy management and other crossfunctional compliance initiatives. The perfect candidate is passionate about compliance and can channel that passion into solving complex problems and novel legal issues in a fastpaced environment.

What youll do

  • Lead Cloudflares internal investigations program not only conducting investigations but acting as a thought leader setting best practices for our global crossfunctional investigative team strategically utilizing metrics to communicate with leadership and justify resource allocation;
  • Oversee the administration of Cloudflares compliance training and education program including the design of companywide compliance training content target audience identification and effectiveness measurement as well as conducting live and recorded training sessions;
  • Own Cloudflares Policy Hub overseeing annual review and approval of all company policies with stakeholders;
  • Drive Cloudflares conflict of interest disclosure process including review and approval of potential employee conflicts and gift and entertainment requests as well as policy training;
  • of our compliance communications strategy;
  • Conduct annual compliance program risk assessments;
  • Manage reporting and analytics of compliance initiatives including responding to auditing requests; and
  • Track Cloudflares company compliance with new laws and regulations specifically with regard to antibribery and and other relevant compliance topics working closely with our public policy legal compliance and regional legal teams;
  • Manage a global team of talented compliance professionals;
  • Establish and maintain crossfunctional relationships with key stakeholders;

Lead and contribute to a variety of other crossfunctional compliance initiatives

Desirable Skills Knowledge and Experience:

  • 6 years experience with an inhouse legal department preferred; experience at a tech company especially as part of a compliance team is a huge plus;
  • Demonstrated track record of managing people and developing talent;
  • Experience conducting and participating in complex investigations;
  • Detailoriented wellorganized and technicallyadept;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in working crossfunctionally with a variety of teams with lawyers and nonlawyers including engineering teams sales teams and product teams to establish effective solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner.
  • Experience with the following software tools helpful butt not required: Google Suite Navex EthicsPoint Certa Zip Moodys RDC Workday LMS;
  • The ability to manage multiple matters / projects for multiple teams;
  • Selfstarter with the ability to learn in a fastpaced environment with minimal supervision;
  • An ambitious mindset that enables you to successfully work independently with little guidance but also to use good judgment and call out issues when needed.

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

  • For Colorado Illinois Maryland and Minnesota based hires: Estimated annual salary of $221000 $270000.
  • For New York City Washington Washington D.C. and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $243000 $297000.

Equity

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflares equity plan.
