General Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing inspections and testing services for various construction materials including soils foundations retaining walls reinforced concrete structural masonry fireproofing and posttensioned concrete. The role requires a thorough understanding of project drawings specifications building codes and the ability to perform field tests in accordance with industry standards such as ASTM ACI AASHTO and GDOT. Inspections may cover multiple disciplines or specific areas of expertise. The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills attention to detail and a willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily inspections and testing of construction materials for compliance with project specifications and building codes including soils foundations concrete masonry fireproofing and posttensioned concrete.
- Conduct special inspections to ensure compliance with project documents and code requirements.
- Communicate with project staff contractors and project managers regarding observations and discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit daily field reports documenting inspections test results and field observations and identify nonconforming items.
- Maintain clean and calibrate inspection and testing equipment according to relevant codes and standards.
- Transport operate and maintain nuclear density gauges and other equipment following safety and maintenance guidelines.
- Read and interpret projectrelated drawings specifications and building codes.
- Maintain and update relevant certifications including NICET Level I and II ACI ICC CWI or PTI.
- Perform field tests in accordance with industry standards including ASTM ACI AASHTO and GDOT.
- Ensure timely completion of inspections and tests to meet project deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members and provide technical guidance when needed.
- Work in varying weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols on all projects.
- Be responsible for ensuring quality standards are met on all GDOT projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand and execute written and verbal directions including reviewing specifications for civil and structural plans.
- Communicate daily with contractors technicians and project managers.
- Perform inspections and testing according to project requirements and applicable standards.
- Submit daily reports documenting inspections testing and field observations identifying and communicating any nonconforming items to project supervision.
- Maintain and care for assigned equipment including nuclear density gauges and ensure all equipment is calibrated per standards.
- Collaborate with team members and provide technical guidance when necessary.
- Maintain updated certifications such as NICET Level I and II ACI ICC CWI or PTI.
- Work in all weather conditions following strict safety protocols and pretask planning.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of experience in inspection and testing of construction materials including soil concrete masonry and/or asphalt.
- Strong understanding of projectrelated drawings specifications and building codes.
- Knowledge of testing and inspection methods and industry standards such as ASTM ACI AASHTO and GDOT.
- NICET Level I and II certifications required.
- ACI Field Grade I Certification required.
- At least one ICC certification such as ICC Soils ICC Reinforced Concrete ICC Structural Masonry ICC SprayApplied Fireproofing or ICC Structural Steel and Bolting.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly document and report observations and test results.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with project teams and interact professionally with contractors and technicians.
- Detailoriented and organized able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills including proficiency in field data collection software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for job site travel.
- Ability to transport operate and maintain equipment such as a nuclear density gauge following safety and maintenance guidelines.
