Job Description

Summary of Position

The Department of Neurology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is accepting applications from fellowship trained Stroke/Vascular Neurologists interested in joining our growing program as Stroke Neurologists within Temple University Hospital Health Science Campus and suburban partner locations.

The Temple University Stroke program is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center that participates in the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Program and has consistently achieved Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite status. It has an active program of clinical trials though its affiliation with STOKENET (NIH funded). The Stroke Service seescerebrovascular related admissions per year; the formal stroke prevention clinic uses evidenced based guidelines for risk factor modification; and a Telestroke/Telemedicine network for acute stroke consults provides coverage to neighboring community and rural hospitals.

The Neurosciences Center at Temple University Hospital is one of the Philadelphia regions best facilities for the treatment of neurological disorders. The missiondriven culture stateoftheart diagnostic center clinical trials and basic science/translational research all contribute to a wide range of advanced treatment options for patients. The incoming Stroke/Vascular neurologist would work closely with a collaborative team that includes other vascular neurologists neurology trained neurocritical care providers vascular neurosurgeons advanced practice nurses and neurology residents.

research that advances and integrates basic and clinical science; and
patient care that is administered with compassion and understanding utilizing contemporary knowledge and techniques.

Several of our physicians have been consistently selected by their peers as Top Doctors both locally and nationally. Working together our neurologists and neurosurgeons use the latest protocols and stateoftheart equipment including the Leksell Gamma Knife 4C and the Elekta Synergy S to diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for the full range of neurological problems.

Candidate Qualifications:
M.D. D.O. or Foreign Equivalent
Board Certification or Eligibility in Neurology and Stroke/Vascular Neurology
Unrestricted medical license and DEA in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one prior to their start date
A strong interest in developing a vibrant clinical practice medical education and clinical research.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the culture needs and aspirations of the community.
