Lecturer of Mathematics

The Department of Computational Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at Texas A&M UniversitySan Antonio (A&MSA) seeks applications from qualified candidates with a passion for teaching for a fulltime nontenuretrack Lecturer position in mathematics. Appointment can begin in Spring 2025 or Fall 2025. The specialization is open. Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum and ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues on improving success rates in entrylevel mathematics courses is expected. Contribution to improving student success in entry level mathematics courses is a high priority for the institution. The base teaching load at A&MSA for lecturers is 5/5; reassigned time for service is possible. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed. This is a position that requires teaching in person on campus though a few courses may be taught online.

The Department provides a rich educational experience for students interested in computing cybersecurity engineering technology and mathematics. We offer bachelors degree programs in these disciplines and also support courses in physics for STEM majors. We also offer Masters degree programs in Computer Science and Cybersecurity. Our students enjoy learning in person and in online/hybrid courses with small class sizes and stateoftheart technology in hightech classrooms. We emphasize handson experiential learning and critical thinking and the participation of students in research under our facultys mentorship.

A&MSA recruit faculty that enhance the breadth depth and quality of our students educational experiences by providing a variety of role models and mentors for our student population. Such faculty help us attract retain and graduate students more successfully. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Education and Experience:

• A Masters degree in Mathematics or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. All areas will be considered.

• A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics.

• Teaching at the university level.

• Excellent teaching and communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Experience in improving student success in entrylevel mathematics courses.

• Experience collaborating with faculty on projects geared toward students academic success.

• Experience with Learning Management Systems.
