Position Summary:
A Peer Support Center Senior Program Counselor teaches skill building courses and holistic wellness courses which support the recovery needs of persons who have experienced psychiatric symptoms who are interested in pursuing recovery. Senior Program Counselors foster a collaborative supportive and safe recovery environment. Senior Program Counselors provide safe transportation for service participants and are responsible for educational and social activities at the Peer Support Center or off campus. Senior Program Counselors at the Peer Support Centers are also responsible for providing one meal and snacks during the centers operating hours. Ability to use Microsoft Office programs manage paperwork and emails and create monthly reports and monthly activity calendars is required. Senior Program Counselors also maintain attendance and activity records required by the state TDMHSAS and the completion of monthly reports.

Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience:
A Peer Support Center Senior Program Counselor is a person who has selfidentified as being in recovery from either a mental illness a substance use disorder or cooccurring disorders of both mental illness and substance use disorder and is eligible to gain Certified Peer Recovery Specialist status in Tennessee. Position requires that an individual has been a consumer of mental health or substance abuse services.
Licensure Requirement:
Employee must have a valid Tennessee drivers license with an F endorsement or a commercial license and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
