Job Opportunity:

We are currently seeking Casual / Bi Lingual Support Care Workers who will support elderly persons under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

This role will be at equivalent SCHADS Home Care Level 1.1 or 2.1 depending on experience with salary sacrifice options available.

The position offers flexible hours per week with travel to clients within Liverpool and Campbelltown surrounding areas.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Support Care Worker is responsible for the following:

Providing support to elderly persons under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

Assisting with personal care and domestic home assistance /social support / Transport.

Identifying and advocating for the needs of clients and the wider CALD community.

Contributing to continuous improvement and development of organisational practices and service delivery.

Ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.

Ensuring administrative requirements are upheld and met within their work.

Supporting teamwork within the Western Sydney MRC.

The Support Care worker will demonstrate appropriate ethics values and behaviours and contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive Western Sydney MRC workplace culture so that the organisation is able to provide quality services to meet the needs of migrants refugees and culturally and linguistically diverse groups.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking casual Support Care Workers to support Elderly community members with entrylevel Inhome respite care.

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience caring for frail and / or elderly persons
  • Strong administrative organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to engage and communicate with people from diverse language religious cultural and socioeconomic background

Compliance Checklist:

  • Current drivers licence and use of comprehensively insured personal vehicle
  • Ability to work flexible hours within 8am6pm Monday to Friday
  • Have or able to obtain a current first aid certificate
  • Able to provide a clear Working with Children Check (to be supplied before starting)
  • Current Police Clearance within the last 12 months or willingness to obtain one immediately (to be supplied before starting)

Desirable:

  • Communication skills in English and any language other than English
  • Cert III in Aged Care qualifications

Our Employment Procedure

At Western Sydney MRC staff is employed under an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy. All applicants are assessed under the same criteria and via the same process.

An employment subcommittee will convene and follow the following process:

1. Cull the applications according to the identified selection criteria. Applicants will not be interviewed if they do not meet the essential criteria. Depending on the number and quality of applicants the desirable criteria may be considered. In cases of an extremely large number of applicants meeting the desirable and essential criteria the panel will select the applicant who meet the criteria best.

2. Applicant selected will be interviewed. All selected applicants will be asked the same questions.

3. Depending on the position each candidate may be asked to participate in a short test assessing specific criteria (for examplea typing test writing skills or computer skills).

4. Referees of the best applicant/s will be contacted.

5. Employment panel will identify successful candidate and conditions of offer of employment (i.e. wages

probation period).

6. Convener of the panel will make an offer of employment to the successful candidate initially by phone and subsequently in writing.

7. Unsuccessful candidates will be informed in writing.
