The Geography Department is an instructional department within the College of Arts and Sciences which supports significant research activities in various types of geographic study. The Department of Geography has 27 Faculty 125 undergraduate majors 40 graduate students. Research and graduate education in the Department of Geography focuses on the following subfields: (a) Geographic information science: cartography GIS data analysis and visualization spatial analysis and modeling; (b) Human geography: politicalethnic cultural humanenvironment relations and behavioral geography; (c) Physical geography: Quaternary studies biogeography climatology and climatic change geomorphology; (d) Environmental studies: forest and ecosystem issues river and watershed issues biodiversity and global environmental change policy and law environmental applications of GIS; and (e) Geographic education.
The Department of Geography is seeking to create a pool of applicants for its open instructor pool. Positions are limitedduration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need funding and performance.
Teaching positions will work under the supervision of the Geography Department Head.
We seek applicants with a teaching background in human Geography for both undergraduate and graduatelevel courses.
MA/MS required by start of position
Successful candidates will have professional experience demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching and a commitment to working effectively with students faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
