Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Provides an environment consistent with accepted standards of sanitation hygiene safety and universal precautions.

• Utilizes universal precautions 100.
• Ensures appropriate disinfecting and cleaning of equipment and surfaces.

Maintains current knowledge and skills of cosmetology.

• Practices in accordance with Nebraska standards for cosmetology licensure.
• Completes continuing education.

Completes continuing education. Provides image consulting services to include client consultation and client education.

• Provides initial client consultation and development of individualized appearance plan.
• Provides client education on the physical side effects of cancer treatment.
• Identifies resources to assist client with appearance normalization.

Assists with the coordination of the activities and operations of the Inner Beauty program.

• Maintains merchandise inventory.
• Facilitates product sales and marketing.
• Verifies insurance coverage as appropriate.

Actively promotes Inner Beauty to internal and external referral sources.

• Interacts with Cancer Center physicians staff and patients to create awareness of services.
• Participates in community events to promote Inner Beauty.
• Participates in Harpers Hope meetings and activities.

Collaborates with strategic partners to enhance the Inner Beauty program and increase outreach activities.

• Works in partnership with the Methodist Hospital Foundation to maximize all grant and donor opportunities.
• Coordinates the Omaha Fashion Week Cancer Survivors Style Show.
• Partners with Xenon Beauty School to facilitate the Glam Squad program for Inpatient Oncology.
• Coordinates volunteer activities for Inner Beauty.
• Participates in Harpers Hope meetings and activities.

Demonstrates the ability to provide individualized customer service according to the needs of the oncology patient.

Job Requirements

Education

• Mandatory inservices and continuing education programs.

Experience

• Previous cosmetology experience required.

License/Certifications

• Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CMF) preferred.
• Nebraska Cosmetology License (COS) required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Interpersonal skill for interacting with patients and their families on a daily basis.
