The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham North Carolina it has an urgent need for the services of three 3 FTE Full Time Locum Tenens Board Certified/Eligible Physicians to provide services in the Ambulatory Care Service located at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham NC 508 Fulton St. Durham N.C 27705; Greenville Health Care Center 401 Moye Rd Greenville N.C. 27834; Raleigh I Community Based Outpatient Clinic 3305 Sungate Blvd. Raleigh N.C. 27610; Raleigh III Community Based Outpatient Clinic 2600 Atlantic Ave. Raleigh N.C. 27604; Morehead City Community Based Outpatient Clinic 5420 Highway 70 Morehead City N.C. 28557 and the Hillandale I Community Based Outpatient Clinic 1824 Hillandale Rd. Durham N.C. 27705.
The candidates shall be qualified and experienced BoardCertified or Board Eligible in Family Practice or in Internal Medicine Physicians who must be licensed in at least one state of the United States of America. The contracted Physicians will see patients at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham NC 508 Fulton St. Durham N.C 27705; Greenville Health Care Center 401 Moye Rd Greenville N.C. 27834; Raleigh I Community Based Outpatient Clinic 3305 Sungate Blvd. Raleigh N.C. 27610; Raleigh III Community Based Outpatient Clinic 2600 Atlantic Ave. Raleigh N.C. 27604; Morehead City Community Based Outpatient Clinic 5420 Highway 70 Morehead City N.C. 28557 and the Hillandale I Community Based Outpatient Clinic 1824 Hillandale Rd. Durham N.C. 27705. Services will be performed from 8 am to 4:30 Monday through Friday not including Federal Holidays.
These do require overtime. No OnCall or Weekend coverage is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Shall be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
- Board Certified Physician. (must be able to provide verification of credentials and proof of malpractice insurance).
- Experience practicing General Medicine.
- Ability to begin work as soon as possible.

Scheduling Details:
- The contractor shall provide an estimated five 5 days of work per week. Each day will consist of eight 8 one 1 hour sessions with a thirty 30 minute unpaid lunch break. A session is defined as one 1 hour. Specific days/hours will be subject to the agreement of the Health Services
Administrator (HSA) however services will normally be performed Monday through Friday (specific working days negotiated) excluding Federal Holidays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for an estimated total of forty 40 hours per week. .
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Take medical histories examine patients and order/interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and x rays.
- Make a diagnosis provide treatment plans and prescribe medications.
- Clinically manage injuries by suturing splinting and immobilizing.
- Attend to medical emergencies.
- Document in the Bureaus Electronic Medical Record (BEMR on each inmate the same day that the inmate is evaluated.
- Record progress notes recommend clinically necessary outside consultations instruct/counsel and order or carry out therapy.
- Emergency consultation to be performed by the Physicians in instances where deemed necessary.
- Minor surgeries utilizing local anesthesia may be performed during consultation visits.
- Call outside hospitals to document the status of our inmates admitted to various hospitals as determined by the Clinical Director or his designee.
- Conduct 14 day chronic care clinic (CCC) assessment and conduct the CCCs to ensure compliance with AAAHC ACA and Program Review guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) consulting physician(s) in planning instituting evaluating and revising program plans; assists in determining conditions resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical emotional or mental problems.
- Managethe daily operation of the CCC clinic and may be required to conducts sick call which may include securing health histories from the patient recording findings and providing clinical evaluations.
- Providea wide range of emergency services including primary care for trauma and life saving procedures.
