Description
The Controller leads the companys accounting department ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and adherence to GAAP standards FAR and company policies. This position is responsible for maintaining fiscal records preparing financial reports and budgets and providing financial insights to senior leadership. Controller directs and has overall supervisory responsibility for the accounting department project and cost accounting client audit responses budgetary controls and travel functions. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer while regularly interacting with senior leadership. The Controller will provide financial insight adopt technological advancements and develop and implement strategies for the growth of the company.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Financial Leadership & Compliance
- Oversees the accounting department ensuring adherence to accounting principles practices and procedures.
- Maintains internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure financial integrity.
- Manages FAR compliance reporting including indirect cost submissions and coordination with public agency auditors.
- Ensures compliance with external reporting requirements and regulatory obligations.
2. Financial Planning & Reporting
- Directs financial operations including quarterly and annual financial reporting budgeting insurance reporting and ERP system maintenance.
- Analyzes and reports on the companys financial position through monthly quarterly and annual reports.
- Oversees the monthend close process general ledger review and revenue recognition.
- Works with external consultants on financial filings such as state taxes and overhead rates.
3. Strategic Analysis & Business Insights
- Assesses financial performance and provides recommendations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Partners with project leadership to review project profitability and conduct monthly revenue assessments.
- Utilizes Power BI to develop and analyze reports dashboards and business insights.
4. Budgeting & Operational Coordination
- Collaborates with operating units to develop and administer annual budgets.
- Reviews and optimizes financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensures alignment between financial strategy and overall business objectives.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- Professional certification e.g. CPA preferred.
- Experience in professional services particularly the AEC industry with public agency work preferred.
- FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) experience required.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint Power BI and Concur preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
