Job Description

Contract Operations Analyst & Assistant Controller

Location: Saskatoon SK (Remote acceptable with 1 2 business trips to Saskatoon)
Reports To: CFO and Controller
Term: 4 6 months (with potential for extension)


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Contract Operations Analyst & Controller to support a defined set of strategic finance initiatives and operational controllership functions. This temporary role will play a key part in supporting a growing food manufacturing organization through a period of transformation and successful candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities a solid understanding of manufacturing operations and a collaborative approach to working cross-functionally. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact through process improvements financial modeling and strategic insights.




Key Responsibilities

  • Costing & Financial Analysis

    • Develop and refine standard costing for new SKUs and equipment.

    • Analyze contribution margins purchase price variances (PPV) labor variances and production throughput.

  • Inventory Management & Systems Enhancement

    • Support improvements in inventory systems and processes to increase visibility valuation accuracy and internal controls.

  • Manufacturing Expansion & Capital Planning

    • Analyze production capacity across lines; model ROI and cash flow scenarios related to capital investments and innovation projects.

  • Demand Planning & Forecasting

    • Contribute to the development or enhancement of demand planning tools/software to strengthen forecasting and procurement alignment.

  • System & Data Optimization

    • Leverage existing ERP tools (e.g. Fishbowl) to enhance reporting capabilities across operations and manufacturing.

  • Leadership Support & Decision Enablement

    • Build financial models and decision-support tools for senior leadership.

    • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis for procurement operations and production planning teams.


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience


  • CPA designation (or equivalent experience in financial analysis or controllership)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience preferably in the manufacturing food or CPG sectors

  • Advanced Excel modeling skills

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Fishbowl NetSuite or similar) and planning software

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders

  • Proactive curious and adaptable with a strong ability to manage deadlines independently

Work Environment & Terms

This is a contract full-time role expected to last 4 6 months with potential for extension based on performance and business needs. While the role is remote-friendly occasional travel to Saskatoon (1 2 trips) is required. Candidates based in or near Saskatoon are preferred and may enjoy flexible in-office options.


Support function for the Senior. Engineering Designer. a) Review Work Orders: Reinforce correct information coming from PM s and captured into the WO before it s released to the shop floor. b) Checks drawings for correctness. Review work orders for accuracy and completeness, issue work orders (as required). Review inventory levels for accuracy and completeness. Review shipping pick lists for accuracy and completeness. Revise and update ERP data; create processes/procedures for inputting future data where necessary. Oversee the SCAF (Sub Contractor Agreement Form) process. Analyze the current raw materials management systems for efficiency and effectiveness. Provide support, coaching and implementation assistance for new production initiatives as required. Ex. new warehouse inventory management system. Perform duties and tasks in other departments as required under the direction of the Management team (i.e. Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving and Production).
