Position Overview

The Conference & Events Summer Camps Housing Assistant is a regular student technical position at UCO which plays a critical role in supporting the planning and of summer conferences and events at our organization. The assistant will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests and assisting with logistics communication and overall guest experience. This is a temporary position lasting approximately 1012 weeks during the summer. The position is a student staff livein position.

Hours per Week

  • 2535 hours per week based on need and availability.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule including nights and weekends as needed.

Department Specific Job Functions

  • Serve as a point of contact for guests providing information directions and support as needed throughout their stay.
  • Assist with guest checkin and checkout processes including room assignments key distribution and billing.
  • Monitor guest behavior and ensure compliance with policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all guests.
  • Collaborate with the Conference & Events team to ensure seamless of events including room setup audiovisual support and catering services.
  • Provide timely and effective communication with guests staff and vendors to ensure successful event planning and .
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest rooms common areas and event spaces.
  • Participate in required training sessions and team meetings and attend to other duties as assigned by the Conference & Events management team.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least halftime to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Halftime enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled fulltime to be eligible to work as a student employee. Fulltime enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact for more information.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Prior experience in customer service hospitality or event planning is preferred but not required.
