Fire Protection Engineer

About the Position:

We are seeking an experienced midlevel Fire Protection Engineering Professional to join our growing design team in any of the following Pond offices:

Atlanta GA Headquarters; Atlanta GA Cobb; Atlanta GA Downtown; Augusta GA; Charlotte NC; Colorado Springs CO; Columbia SC; Honolulu HI; Huntsville AL; Jacksonville FL; Mobile AL; New Orleans LA; Houston TX; San Diego CA; Savannah GA; Tampa FL.

Candidate should have 25 years experience with an EIT license working towards a PE license in Fire Protection Engineering. Responsibilities will focus on design and production of fire protection engineering project construction documents or reports under the general supervision of Senior Engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects. This includes making Fire Protection Engineering design decisions on suppression systems fire alarm systems mass notification systems and assisting Architecture with Life Safety design.
• Performs accurate legible and well thought out design calculations.
• Coordinates Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines; highlighting design components that will impact the other disciplines design so that the overall design is constructable without conflict.
• Attends project kick off meetings and coordination meetings.
• Works independently with minimal supervision; is selfmotivated and has initiative.
• Performs assigned tasks in accordance with company QC procedures.
• Communicates with clients as needed and defined by project.
• Contacts clients and/or contractors as needed on specific jobs.
• Ability to work well within a team environment positive attitude multitask and selfmotivated to produce high quality work.
• Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors degree (BS) from a fouryear college or university in Fire Protection Engineering Fire Protection Engineering Technology Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Two years related experience and/or training.

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

• EngineerInTraining license required.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.

Software/Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps.
• Revit/AutoCAD/BIM preferred but can be trained.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position required the individual to use the computer working at a desk in either an office or cubicle; must be able to talk and hear reach with hands and arms lift up to 10 pounds stand sit and walk must have close and color vision use depth and peripheral vision be able to adjust focus.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional attendance at meetings and other offsite events requires the ability to provide reliable transportation. Position may require occasional travel to domestic or foreign locations. Must maintain a current valid drivers license and proof of insurance. The position may require travel internationally and as such the capability to travel freely on a passport or other official document.
