Required qualifications:
- Defensive Driver Certifcation (provided by NMSD upon hiring)
- Current NM Drivers License
- Fluent in ASL (preferred)
Duties:
- Transport students to and from school in a safe and timely manner
- Perform pretrip and posttrip inspection on vehicle
- Follow all NMSD policies regarding student transportation and vehicle use
- Obey all traffic laws
- Report any vehicle issues to the Transportation Coordinator
- Check roster for required car or booster seats
- Be responsible for route papers keys and gas card must sign for these items
- Ensure students have all of their property including hearing aid/cochlea implants
- Be responsible for safekeeping of student medicine and giving to nurse and parents/guardians
- Be aware of student behavior at all times
- Report all student misbehavior in writing before end of shift
- Notify dispatcher when you arrive at each destination when you pick up who you picked up/need to have parent sign for studentdrop of and mark here on roster when you pick up student.
- Read special instructions on route document for student needs
- Clean vehicle interior and windows after every use
- Fill up vehicle with gas after you drop of students
- Ensure all windows are closed and vehicle is locked
- Abide NMSD policies at all times
