Description
St. Johns School is seeking a fulltime Theatre teacher. The ideal candidate will enjoy working primarily with middle school students (grades 68. Theatre teachers at St. Johns work together to create a cohesive curriculum that builds from Middle to Upper School. St. Johns School seeks educators who are innovative in their approach open to feedback and thrive in a collaborative environment. We expect members of our community to engage in conversations that support ongoing professional development and interdisciplinary opportunities. In addition to relevant experience and a strong educational background successful candidates must demonstrate a collaborative spirit and a commitment to furthering the Schools mission including its strategic initiatives on community and inclusion.
Primary responsibilities:
- Teach Middle School Theatre Electives
- Serve as an advisor
- Direct 12 afterschool theatre productions a year within the Middle and Upper School Theatre programs
- Collaborate and coordinate closely with the theatre dance and music faculty
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Theatre/Theatre Education; Masters or Master of Fine Arts degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience
- Experience in classroom theatre curriculum and directing theatre for young audiences
- Excellent organizational written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with playwriting technical theatre or film production a plus
