Summary of Job Duties:
The Adult Education ESL Teacher works under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education and will be responsible for providing instruction to individuals with a variety of personal goals including: learning the English language improving basic skills gaining digital literacy skills acquiring financial literacy skills and/or earning a GED credential. This fulltime position will be assigned to the UACCM Faulkner County Adult Education Center in Conway. Evening and weekend hours may be required.JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide instruction to adults whose native language is not English teaching basic skills/concepts in reading language and mathematics.
Build instructional activities around the four interdependent components of reading: alphabetic fluency vocabulary and comprehension.
Administer the TABE CLASE assessment for pre and postassessment purposes.
Provide a variety of instructional deliveries including individualized instruction small group instruction and whole class instruction.
Facilitate learning with textbooks workbooks lectures computer based educational programs audio/visual aids handson activities and peer tutors.
Assist students with the development of digital literacy skills.
Provide learning activities designed to enhance financial literacy skills.
Collaborate with students to document long and shortterm goals based upon identified career pathways.
Provide students with progress reports and update individualized student learning plans on a consistent basis.
Maintain accurate student attendance records.
Participate in professional development activities as required and attend and participate in staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The formal education of a bachelors degree is required.
Adult Education teachers are required to hold a valid Arkansas Department of Education Educators License.
Within three years of hire a fulltime Adult Education teacher must obtain an Adult Education endorsement on his/her/their current Arkansas Department of Education Educators License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience providing Adult Education instruction is preferred.

Ability to teach students of diverse abilities and backgrounds and overcome barriers to success in a multilevel class.
Ability to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Ability to relate well to different groups of students of different ages and ability levels.
Must be computer literate.
Ability to use a variety of audiovisual equipment.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar and usage.
Must have good classroom management skills. Must have strong desire to work with people from a broad range of backgrounds.
Teamplayer who can collaborate with colleagues.
Participate in curriculum development.
Attend inservice staff meetings and state training.
Maintain clean and professional classroom environment.
Possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Enthusiasm for the subject material that will foster a love of learning by students.
