TITLE: Elementary School Assistant Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND POSITION OVERVIEW
Global Community Charter School (GCCS) is a Harlembased International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that is innovative inquirybased culturally competent and provides students with a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that encourages critical and creative thinking.
The Assistant Principal is a proven leader with experience in teaching and leading a team to excellent outcomes and is fueled by a passion for their teams success and continual improvement. The Assistant Principal (AP) with the direction of the Principal is responsible for the daytoday management of teaching learning and maintaining an overall school culture and climate in line with the schools mission and vision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of curriculum development and evaluation child development special education and ENL services effective instructional and improvement strategies classroom management learning assessment and diagnosis and strategies for closing achievement gaps.
- Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations.
- Assists the principal in planning organizing scheduling directing and evaluating all school activities cocurricular activities and extracurricular activities.
- Supervise and evaluate designated certified and noncertified staff regarding their performance within the framework of the school program.
- Using data derived from multiple measures to assess student academic progress and socialemotional wellbeing on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains a commitment to ongoing growth in self and others; leads supports and participates in professional development.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to oversee and support multiple tasks and initiatives on a daily basis according to priorities established by the Principal.
- Implementing positive and restorative disciplinary practices in accordance with the Schools disciplinary policy and procedures; ensures achievement of a joyous and rigorous school environment that represents the IB Learner Profile Attributes.
- Support the schools human resource functions including but not limited to interviewing new teachers and staff and holding regular performance reviews.
- Engaging teachers in coaching cycles and implementing researchbased strategies that maximize the performance of the teachers and their students.
- Foster relationships collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decisionmaking process.
- Foster meaningful relationships with families that drive families to invest in their childs learning
- Model promote and embody the International Baccalaureate learner profile to create a cohesive school culture of academic and personal success
- Supervisor afterschool activities late student pickups and other school activities as directed
- Supporting the school as directed by the Principal
QUALIFICATIONS
- Covid vaccination required
- A M.A. Ed.M or Masters degree in education from an accredited college or university is a must
- NYS SBL Certification preferred
- Experienced as a fulltime effective impactful classroom teacher with a minimum of five years and have at least two years of previous experience in leadership.
- Demonstrated success working in a highperforming urban school setting preferred.
- Be a team player a desire to work in a teamoriented environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues
