Overview of Organization
Colorado Enterprise Fund (CEF) is a nonprofit business lending organization dedicated to the success of small businesses in Colorado. We provide access to capital for Colorado small businesses that are unable to access traditional financing. Our primary focus areas are business owners who may be low to moderate income minority women or veterans. Were committed to creating meaningful impact in Colorados communities by providing equitable and affordable business financing for entrepreneurs who cannot access bank loans or other financial resources.
At CEF we see our community impact through job creation wealth building for disadvantaged populations and the growth and success of the businesses we fund. As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) we offer loans grants and free business coaching to entrepreneurs to help them succeed.
Colorado small business owners and entrepreneurs seek aid from our organization in moving towards the major step of asking for financial loans that they have not been able to find from traditional resources such as banks.
The CEF Finance and Data Strategy (FDS) team led by the Chief Financial Officer adds value to the mission and organization through dataenriched financial storytelling that informs CEFs strategy and optimizes its resource decisions. FDS represents CEF in external relationships with funders auditors raters banks and vendors and it leverages these partnerships to maximize CEFs strategic flexibility and net assets.
Overview of the Position
The Financial Impact Analyst reporting to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is primarily responsible for preparing regular and adhoc reporting for external stakeholders including impact investors government entities and banking partners. In addition this position will support annual budgeting quarterly reforecasting and variance analysis. This role is also expected to build and maintain financial models as business needs arise.
CEF offers a hybrid work environment with a blend of inoffice and remote work. Candidates must be Colorado based and can expect to work in the office three days per week.
On a given day your work might include:
Financial Analysis
- Gather and organize information on the organizations financial performance to support strategic business initiatives.JJ1
- Analyze historical and current data identify trends and maintain projection models.
- Evaluate contract requirements revenue sources operating expense activity and forecasting.
- Help to promote CEFs mission by presenting financial data and insights in a clear and concise manner.JJ2 AB3
External Stakeholder Reporting
- Maintain external proposal and funding records coordinate contract documentation and track reporting requirements.
- Ensure financial and narrative reporting informationJJ4 is completed and provided to both internal and external stakeholders by required monthly quarterly and annual deadlinesJJ5 .
- Translate operational processes into financial metrics and reporting.JJ6
- Collect and deliver loan production and community impact data.
- Work within multiple enterprise systems to extract financial data and external partner information and to maintain it for accuracy.
Organizational Budgeting and Planning
- Own portions JJ7 of the annual budget monthly budgettoactual reporting and quarterly reforecasting under the guidance of the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.
- Respond to internal budget stakeholders questions identifying variances and partnering with them to update restofyear projections.
- Prepare analysis on variances to forecast budget and prioryear actuals.
Additional Duties
- Identify areas for operational improvement analyze existing workflows and implement datadriven solutions to streamline processes and increase efficiency across departments.
- Collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams to achieve shared project goals actively contributing ideas and supporting team members to deliver successful outcomes.
- May assist with special projects as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelors degree or higher in Finance Accounting Economics Business or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years experience in financial reporting compliance data analysis and/or accounting.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Familiarity with nonprofit reporting accounting and auditing practices.
- Knowledge of the small business economy and/or commercial lending practices.
- Experience working with federal state and/or private grants.
- Awareness of the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) sector and/or Small Business Administration programs.
- Proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- High proficiency in financial modeling budgeting forecasting and analysis
- Strong work ethic and attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to meet deadlines for financial reporting
- Selfmotivated and able to follow through in completing highquality detailed work with minimal supervision
- Uses a collaborative approach and has flexibility to work with a broad range of cultures personalities and work styles
- Knowledge of Excel functions and formulas proficiency in data analysis and manipulation and the ability to create reports and dashboards
- Proficiency in creating editing and manipulating PDF documents
- Ensuring data integrity and accuracy within the CRM
- Ability to translate complex data into easily understandable visualizations.
- Strong understanding of identifying generating and tracking financial metrics
- Capacity to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and external deadlines
- Focus on continuous process improvement and efficiencies
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear accurate organized recommendations and reports
- Professional demeanor combined with strong written and verbal communication skills
Workspace/Physical Requirements
- CEF is a hybrid workplace; this position will work onsite in the main CEF office 3 days per week
- Internet services at home to ensure work responsibilities can be fully met during remote work days (CEF provides basic equipment)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and to adjust with shifting priorities as needed to meet the needs of our customers
