Position Title: School Psychologist/Team ChairLocation: Foster Elementary SchoolAnticipated Start Date: August 27 2025Job Description:Hingham Public School (HPS) psychologists provide a full range of school psychological services to children ages 322 including screening and assessment educational programs individual and group counseling and consultation with teachers staff and administration with school staff parents and outside agencies as appropriate. HPS psychologists function as members of each schools multidisciplinary team to determine a students eligibility for special services appropriate programming and ongoing progress. HPS psychologists may serve as Team Chairs and implement and oversee all necessary procedures to meet special education compliance standards as outlined by the federal and state regulations as well as policies and procedures of the Hingham Public Schools. The School Psychologist/Team Chair will report to the Executive Director of Student Services and Building Principal or their designees and will work closely with the Special Education Teachers General Education Teachers the Districts BCBA Speech and Language Occupational and Physical Therapists and paraeducators.RESPONSIBILITIES:Complete comprehensive cognitive psychological social emotional evaluations including executive functioning and functional behavioral assessments observations and if needed academic evaluations and home assessments as part of the revaluation and eligibility special education process for some students placed out of district; attend and present findings at these meetings.Collaborates with others to develop appropriate cognitive and academic goals for students with different abilities disabilities strengths needs and develops interventions to support progress toward these goals.Coordinate referrals and eligibility for special education evaluations; all team meetings (initial and reevaluation meetings annual reviews team reconvene meetings).Collaborate/work effectively with parents teachers paraeducators school psychologist District BCBA School and District Administrators professional and community contacts.Provide small group and individual counseling to students as needed.Crisis intervention (restraint trained as needed). Manage and /or assist in behavioral crisis situations: modeling interventions staff training crisis plan and behavior support plan development and team and family follow up as deemed appropriate.Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building.Ability to travel between multiple school locations and out of district schools (must possess valid drivers license).Ability to operate computer printer telephone copier facsimile machine and all other standard office equipment.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.Responsible for implementing other jobrelated duties as assigned.QualificationsCompletion of clinical and/or school training as an intern in the area of psychology and/or school psychology.Appropriate degree and licensure as a school psychologist under Massachusetts DESE regulations and requirements.Masters Degree or higher with a major in Special Education Psychology and/or Counseling/Related Services.Working knowledge of Special Education regulations and timelines.Experience with administering and interpreting cognitive psychological and academic evaluations.
