The Economic Development Data Analyst plays a key role in supporting the Economic Development division of the City Managers Department. The Economic Development Data Analyst is a new role that supports the Economic Development Division within the City Managers Department. Reporting directly to the Economic Development Manager the position addresses gaps in data collection analyzes trends and creates clear actionable reports and visuals for a diverse range of stakeholders. Responsibilities of the role include collecting compiling and interpreting a wide range of statistical data to support informed outreach and decisionmaking and creating direct communication channels and tailored resources. The position will proactively provide insights to understand and address business industryspecific and supply chain challenges. The role will engage with the public and stakeholders in overall economic development in the city.
The Economic Development Data Analyst gathers compiles and interprets various statistical data and prepares administrative reports and grant applications related to division operations. Additionally this position participates in the planning and analysis budgeting and special projects and may present oral information to the Economic Development Subcommittee and City Council. Experience in data analysis dashboards and the business community through economic development is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate is selfmotivated and can work independently and collectively in a fastpaced team environment. The candidate will possess excellent analytical administrative and project management skills. Strong analytical and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently are essential.
Experience and Qualifications for Success!
A combination of experience and education equivalent to a bachelors degree in business economics or public administration or a related field AND experience as follows:
Management Analyst I: requires one year of professional business/analytical experience OR one year of experience as a Management Technician II with the City of Ventura. Public sector experience is desirable. Substitution: A masters degree plus completion of an internship with a local government agency is also qualifying at the Management Analyst I level.
Management Analyst II: requires two years of experience equivalent to that of a Management Analyst I with the City of Ventura performing a variety of professional support activities preferably in a public agency.
License: Possession of or ability to obtain a valid class C driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
Management Analyst is flexibly staffed and vacancies may be filled at either the I or II level depending on individual qualifications and City needs. The level is determined by the complexity difficulty and frequency of report writing public speaking oral presentations research and analysis policy recommendations supervision of others budgeting direct personal contact special projects committee participation decision making and strategic planning. Other factors which influence level include the degree of delegated authority and the incumbents depth of knowledge of the specialized functions and operations of the department to which assigned.
