Job Description

**THIS IS A SUMMER POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY** PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Extended School Year (ESY) is a Special Education program for students with disabilities whose IEP team has determined that in order to minimize substantial regression and reduce substantial recoupment time a student is required to attend ESY. These services will be based upon the individual needs of the students per their IEP goals/objectives. REPORTS TO: Position reports to the ESY Director and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services PROGRAM SCHEDULE: The instructional hours for students are 4 hours per day 3 days per week for 5 weeks from July 7 to August 7 2025. A PreK Teacher job description involves creating a safe and engaging learning environment for young children implementing ageappropriate curriculum and fostering their social emotional and cognitive development. Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Implementation: Plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities that align with early childhood education standards and the specific needs of the PreK age group.Classroom Management: Maintain a clean organized and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning and exploration.Child Development: Observe and assess childrens individual needs and progress adapting teaching methods to support their development in all areas (social emotional cognitive and physical).Instruction: Teach basic skills such as identifying colors shapes numbers and letters and introduce foundational concepts in literacy numeracy science and social studies. Following students IEP.Communication: Maintain open communication with parents providing regular updates on their childs progress and addressing any concerns.Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to implement effective teaching strategies and support the overall learning environment.Safety and Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in the classroom following established safety protocols and procedures.Positive Relationships: Foster positive relationships with children and their families creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of childrens progress attendance and any relevant information.Skills and Qualifications:Education: DESE licensure in early childhood education is required. Experience: Previous experience working with young children on IEPs is highly valued. Patience and Empathy: The ability to be patient understanding and empathetic with young children is essential. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills both written and verbal are necessary for interacting with children parents and colleagues. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are needed to manage the classroom and plan engaging activities. Creativity: The ability to be creative and innovative in designing and implementing learning activities. ProblemSolving Skills: The ability to identify and address challenges that may arise in the classroom. First Aid and CPR Certification: Certification in first aid and CPR is preferred.TERMS:Hourly rate of $40.
