The University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant/Associate Professor Sport Management College of Education R0144638.
ROLE of the POSITION
UNLVs Department of Educational Psychology Leadership & Higher Education in the College of Education seeksapplicants for a TenureTrack Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management position beginning in theacademic year. This position offers candidates a unique opportunity to engage in collaborative research in one of the fastest growing sport cities in the world. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research teaching and sport community a record of excellence in scholarship pertinent to Sport Management. Teach courses in Sport Management advise students in Sport Management supervise masters research and provide service through participation in the governance of the department school and/or the university. Contribute to the development of the profession through participation in national and/or international associations publications and sport industry collaboration. Continue personal growth within the profession keep current with the field advance knowledge and expertise to contribute to the innovation of this newly created cuttingedge program.
PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE
As an HSI & AANAPISI College of Education we prepare learners to address contemporary challenges by: (a) advancing equity and access through innovative scholarship practice and advocacy; (b) enhancing our communities through collaborative outreach and engagement; and (c) delivering highquality services educational programs and initiatives that promote social justice and wellbeing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires aDoctorate or Juris Doctoratefrom an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Practical experience in the sport industry a focused and active research agenda demonstrated by publications in medium to highimpact journals and potential for extramurally funded research e.g. Local State and Federallevel. Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels including online teaching and demonstrated expertise in sport law governance policy intercollegiate athletic administration sport economics and finance gender equity DEI sport technology. and innovation etc. Evidence of effectively mentoring graduate students (both masters and PhD levels). Commitment to fostering an environment in which faculty staff and students from diverse backgrounds cultures and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive in the educational setting.
For applicants to qualify for the rank of Associate Professor:
Evidence of a successful scholarship record commensurate with an Associate Professor including scholarly research and peerreviewed sport managementrelated publications.
Evidence of effective teaching and advising at the college or university level including undergraduate and graduate students.
Evidence of curriculum development and innovations in sport management programs.
Evidence of participation in externally funded research; grants and/or contracts.
Evidence of collaboration and engagement with sport industry leaders and organizations.
Applicants for this position would be tenureeligible; it would be expected that candidates requesting consideration of tenure in the Department of Educational Psychology Leadership and Higher Education will meet requirements for tenure as outlined in our department bylaws and will be voted on by tenured faculty in our department during final job negotiation processes.
For applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor:
Potential for the development of a scholarship record commensurate with an assistant professor level.
Experience teaching at the college or university level.
Evidence of the potential for securing and managing externallyfunded projects to support research and scholarship. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of collaboration with professionals across the sport industry and fields of sport management sport law and intercollegiate athletics.
Experience teaching diverse students at the college or university level.
Specified knowledge and experience in any of the following:
