Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Olions Sponsor is the head of the Olions Thespian Club an Honors Organization within the International Thespian Society. The Sponsor works closely with the Activities Office the Olions Booster Club and the Olions Student Board to put on quality theatrical shows and learning opportunities for students at Los Alamos High School. Both the Club and Student Board meet once a week throughout the school year and typically put on four productions two each semester including Musical Play One Act (NMAA) and Topper Revue.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing the Production of All Olions Performances including all rehearsals for those performances
  • Directing for all Olions Productions
  • Overseeing Technical aspects for all Olions Productions
  • Being an Outstanding Ambassador for Theater in Los Alamos
  • Setting Budget with the Olions Booster Club
  • Leading Olions Board Meetings
  • Developing a Production Schedule for the School Year
  • Collaborating with local directors artists and community members
  • Collaborating with LAPS Colleagues
  • Providing leadership and Theater Education
  • Recruitment for the Club and Theater Communities at LAHS
  • Setting Focus for the Olions Program
  • Paperwork and travel requirements to attend the One Act (NMAA) competition
  • Coordination of logistics for students who are chosen to participate in the New Mexico Enchantment Awards

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

N/A

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Theater Experience (Degree Prefered)
  • Teacher License from the New Mexico Public Education Department
  • A passion and love for students and theater education
  • Ability to Lift Climb Ladders and other Physical Activities around the Theater
  • Great Communication Skills
  • Organizational Skills
  • Budgeting Skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience managing student clubs preferred

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents students and other LAPS staff
  • Ability to perform basic math and understand written procedures
  • Time Management skills
  • Ability to plan events and coordinate student activities
  • Ability to compose written documents

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to schedule activities meetings and events
  • Gather and understand data
  • Use basic job equipment
  • Ability to solve problems and analyze information
