MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly detailed on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form. ; A rsum will notbe accepted in place of a completed application; either ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associates Degree or higher in an Engineering field ; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma supplemented by at least 20 semester credit hours in engineering related courses ; ; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two years of full time paid experience surveying and/or the application of basic engineering methods or techniques.
SPECIAL NOTES
- Must possess a valid NYS Drivers License and must maintain said license for the duration of employment.
- Degree must have been awarded by a college or university by a regional national or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education/US Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories you must provide independent verification of equivalency. ;

DUTIES: ; The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of beginning level technical engineering work and surveying. The incumbent assists the Survey AutoCAD Technician and the Senior Engineering Technician(s) by performing delegated tasks or independently performs tasks requiring a limited use of engineering theory and techniques. The incumbent works both indoors and outdoors and utilizes both manual and computerized methods and techniques. This position differs from that of an Engineer by virtue of the fact that an Engineering Technician performs only beginning level technical work. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works and the Public Works Business Manager with direct supervision by the City Engineer. ; Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITES: Illustrative only
- Assists in the development or reviews of plans and specifications for various construction projects including water lines sanitary sewer lines storm sewer lines roads sidewalks curbs etc.
- Assists consulting engineers and professionals hired by the City for specific engineering or Public Works projects
- Inspects utility repair and/or installation provides engineering assistance and develops maintenance and repair schedules;
- Assists in the development and initiation of public awareness programs to enhance the performance and integrity of the Citys utility systems;
- Queries a computer data base and retrieves data for use in engineering projects and water/wastewater installations streets highways recreational parks;
- Operates optical and satellitebased survey equipment gathers survey information and creates maps or other documents; ;
- Inspects construction projects for conformance with specifications and the correct use of materials;
